Mr. Ritson holds a degree in Geophysics from Southampton University, UK.  He has worked in the oil industry for nearly 40 years, initially with BP plc, before occupying senior managerial roles as International Chief Geophysicist, Head of Geoscience Research and Business Unit Leader for both Norway and then Alaska Exploration.

Subsequently, Mr. Ritson managed the international operations of Burlington Resources Inc. before Burlington was acquired by ConocoPhillips and more recently he was CEO at Regal Petroleum plc before founding the Vanguard Energy Group where he was Chairman and CEO.   Mr Ritson joined Solo Oil plc in late 2010 which has a diverse portfolio of international oil and gas assets including producing gas assets in Tanzania, as well as interests in Nigeria, Canada and in the major Horse Hill discovery in the UK.

Until recently he was also the Chairman and Chief Executive of LGO Energy plc which he relinquished to concentrate on Solo Oil as its Executive Chairman.
